For two years, reality TV star Savannah Chrisley has played an unusual role in her family—not as the outspoken daughter fans have come to know, but as a messenger between her imprisoned parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley.
Speaking to People magazine, Savannah confirmed that her parents, who have been serving prison sentences since January 2023, have not spoken to each other once.
“It’s always, ‘Please tell them I love them’ or ‘Please tell them I miss them,’” Savannah said. “It’s literally that every single time.”
Todd Chrisley is serving his 12-year sentence in Florida, while Julie is serving seven years in Kentucky. Despite nearly 30 years of marriage, the couple has been unable to communicate directly since their convictions for bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022.
A Communication Ban Under Scrutiny
Savannah questioned why her parents are barred from speaking, given that prison officials monitor all communications.
“I don’t know, and that’s the unfortunate part. Why can’t they? You listen to everything anyway, so why can’t they be on a phone together?” she said.
Julie Chrisley’s sentence was reaffirmed last year after an appeals court determined her original sentencing was miscalculated. Savannah expressed her frustration at the ruling, vowing to continue fighting for her parents’ release.
“We’re going to move forward with appealing this sentence, and I will continue to fight for my parents,” she stated. “I will be as loud as I can possibly be.”
A Political Twist in the Legal Battle
Savannah, who has been vocal in her support for Donald Trump, claims that the former president—now serving another term in office—has taken an interest in her parents’ case.
“Now that I’ve worked with President Trump’s team, I’m bringing all of this to his awareness,” she told People.
As the legal battle continues, one question remains: Will Todd and Julie Chrisley ever get the chance to speak again?
