‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Recast SHOCKER- Charles Mesure OUT As Jack Brennan And Chris McKenna IN
‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers confirm a recasting shocker: Charles Mesure has opted to exit his role as Jack Brennan on the soap.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Mesure’s Final Airdate Was January 30th
GH has already hired One Life To Live and The Young and the Restless vet Chris McKenna. Mesure has become very popular with the fans, and it’s a significant blow to the show as Brennan’s romance with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is heating up.
Mesure’s final air date has already occurred, as we saw on January 30th, last Thursday, when Brennan and Carly had their rooftop date in Germany after sharing their first kiss. McKenna debuts in the role tomorrow, February 4th.
Brennan came to Port Charles in December 2023 as a villain on a mission to end Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
He was the head of the WSB and the frontrunner of Pikeman Security Group. Fans took notice when they witnessed the chemistry between Brennan and Carly, which was off the charts.
Brennan’s story started to shift when he became close to Carly. Clearly, he cared deeply for the Metro Court owner, and every time Carly went to him to ask for a favor, he came through for her without hesitation.
Many fans have been clamoring for the pair to get together despite the legion of fans who desperately want Sonny and Carly back together.
A GH spokesperson confirmed the news of Mesure’s exit to Soap Opera Digest in a statement announcing,
“Charles Mesure opted to exit the role of Brennan. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
McKenna Has Experience On Several Soaps
The new Brennan, Chris McKenna, played Joey Buchannan on One Life To Live from 1990 to 1993. He is remembered as the “childhood” Joey until the character was SORAS in 1994. He also captured the viewers’ attention on The Young and the Restless as Detective Mark Harding from 2014 to 2015.
McKenna briefly played the role of Kate Logan’s (Heather Tom) therapist, Dr. Hayden, on The Bold and The Beautiful in 2016.
Since his few stints on soap operas, McKenna has played on some popular primetime shows like Good Trouble, Chicago Fire, and The Blacklist, among several others.
We must wonder if Brennan will lose his sexy Australian accent the next time we see him on GH. Part of the appeal and charm to Brennan is his accent and dashing good looks.
McKenna will likely do fine in the role, but will it be enough to sway viewers who were originally CarSon fans to fans of Brennan and Carly?
The soap may likely take the character in a different direction, which would be a bummer for fans who want to see Brennan and Carly take their flirtatious friendship to the next level.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest last year, Mesure admitted he wasn’t sure about joining the soap at first.
However, when he met casting director Mark Teschner and read opposite Laura Wright, he felt the chemistry between the two characters and quickly changed his mind.
“The truth is, I’ve had an absolute ball,”
He exclaimed.
“I’m really surprised at how much fun this is because I was so apprehensive about the workload, I was apprehensive about the pressure and the schedule and so forth, but I’ve had an absolute ball every single day I’ve been here.”
