‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Corinthos’s Departure-How Will The Character Leave The Canvas?
‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Chad Duell, who plays Michael Corinthos on the soap, announced on November 23rd that he would leave the canvas after fourteen years of playing the character.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Could Leave With The Kids
Executive Producer Frank Valentini took to social media to confirm the actor’s departure and said there were no plans to recast the role. This means that when Duell leaves GH, he’s likely taking Michael Corinthos with him.
Valentini also noted that a “great story” is imminent for the character and his family. Viewers believe the actor will leave the soap sometime in the new year. Fans are wondering how Michael’s exit story will play out. We have a few potential scenarios that could occur.
Michael is involved in a bit of a scandal right now. His wife, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), has been cheating on him with his uncle, Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison).
Not only that, but the night Michael found out about Willow and Drew, he went straight to the bar, got smashed, and slept with his wife’s best friend, Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson), who is now pregnant.
Michael saw Drew and Willow doing the deed in Scout Quartermaine’s (Cosette Abinate) playroom via baby cam. In addition, his wife and his uncle lie to him about their tryst, telling him they only kissed once.
Michael may decide he and the kids are better off without Willow, and he could take his children, Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Nathan and Owen Ford), and leave Port Charles.
His other motivation may be to keep his children away from Drew, and he could easily turn to his well-connected mob boss father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), to help him with the resources he needs to skip town.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael Ends up Presumed Dead
If they decide to recast later, the best way to introduce a new Michael to the soap is with a presumed-dead storyline. Soap writers love taking this route with significant characters.
Maybe a mob hit meant for his father ends up “killing” Michael, and he’s presumed dead. He could “die” in an explosion or a shooting.
Better yet, Michael and Drew could have an altercation about Willow, and it turns physical. Let’s say they fight on the docks or the footbridge. Michael falls into the waters, and everyone thinks he drowned, and he’s presumed dead.
Another option is if Michael goes to jail for covering up the murder of John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington). Michael arrived at the Quartermaine boathouse only moments after Sonny shot and killed Jagger. H immediately sprung into action.
Michael cleaned up the crime scene. He removed the bullet casings and then informed the police to come to the Quartermaines, as a murder was committed. It wouldn’t be Michael’s first stint in prison.
Not much has transpired in the way of the police finding out who killed Agent Cates. Just like the murder of poor Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth), the soap will probably never finish the story arc.
We know no one could replace Chad Duell. However, if Michael has to go, we hope the door remains open for a return. We hope Duell gets a dramatic send-off worthy of his talents.
