‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate that GH fans received a very unwelcome surprise when they learned on February 3rd that Charles Mesure opted to leave the role of Jack Brennan.

The news was shocking, combined with Mesure’s replacement already in play, as Chris McKenna would debut on the soap the next day.
Fans felt cheated that they waited eagerly for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Brennan to get together, and all they got for their time and investment was that epic first kiss.
While the kiss was worth the wait, fans expected Carly and Brennan to take their relationship to the next level; of course, with Mesure in the role, the chemistry between Carly and Brennan was off the charts.
Now fans are wondering whether the soap should cut its losses and elect not to pair Carly and Brennan now that he has a new face and lacks Brennan’s signature charming Aussie accent.
We have been thinking about this quandary quite a lot. While an army of CarSon fans have been waiting for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly to find their way back to each other, we think Carly should explore other romantic possibilities.
The CarSon romance has been there and done that so many times that it’s stale, and after the Nixon Falls fiasco, it’s hard to root for them as a couple.
Carly has grown and matured too much to regress. That’s why Carly and Brennan were the perfect match. He complimented her need for a bad boy with a heart of gold. She brought out the very best in him.

Mesure’s departure from the role will no doubt affect the storyline’s direction. But will it stop Brennan and Carly from moving forward with a romance?
In theory, we should allow McKenna to make the role his own. The only caveat is that Mesure was made for the part of Jack Brennan.
From his first scenes with Carly at Bobbie’s until the two finally lock lips. Theirs was a blossoming love story worth watching.
Carly is a formidable character and needs someone at her level to partner up with. It would be impossible for this new Brennan to top her chemistry with Mesure. Many fans have dug their heels in and refused to give McKenna a chance.
To McKenna’s credit, it’s unfair for him to have to compete. McKenna is an experienced soap actor with impressive credentials. He deserves a chance to shine in his own right.
That being said, fans can see that Wright’s chemistry with McKenna doesn’t have the same sizzle. We hope the soap doesn’t put Sonny and Carly together for the billionth time, but we sincerely fear that’s where it’s headed.
Brennan appears to be grooming Carly’s daughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), as a potential WSB agent. That’s what we predict will cause conflict for Carly and Brennan, and it will ultimately break them up.
In the end, it’s a shame fans didn’t get the satisfaction they wanted from the Carly/Brennan romance, and now we most likely never will.
