‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos) Reaveals Real Reason He’s Really Leaving GH
‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Chad Duell, who earlier this year celebrated his 14th anniversary with the soap, has opened up about why he’s leaving GH.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Duell Has Been Dealing With A Personal Loss
Duell announced in November that he would be exiting the role of Michael Corinthos shortly after the new year
On the latest episode of Daily Drama with Steve Burton, who plays Jason Morgan, and Bradford Anderson, who plays Damian Spinelli, Duell admitted there are multiple personal reasons why he’s saying goodbye to Port Charles.
The actor recently lost his father, who passed away, and decided he needed a change. Duell explained on the podcast,
“There has been a lot happening in my life during this break, and so much to process. One significant reason is that, as many know, my dad passed away, and I’m still grappling with that loss,”
He said.
His father’s passing also explains the recent short breaks he’s taken from the soap.
He continued,
“I had hoped to spend some time back in Arizona, but that’s proving to be more challenging than I anticipated,”
He said.
His girlfriend, Luana, the mother of his son, Dawson, is currently attending school in Arizona, and Dawson is in daycare there.
“Right now, I’m just more about doing things mentally, physically preparing myself for whatever comes,”
He explained.
Duell is also interested in trying new things. He was twenty-two when he joined the soap, and now he’s thirty -seven. Chad wants to take some chances and spread his wings a little bit.
“I feel like I had a very strong complacency and comfort for such a long time that my identity was wrapped up in that, and who I was with the show and this character that I’ve done for so long,”
He divulged.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michael’s Exit Involves “A Shocking Act Of Violence”
The GH head writers plan to write Michael off the show in a very dramatic way and claim his exit involves “a shocking act of violence.”
However, Frank Valentini is keeping the door open for a possible return. His character, Michael, is currently in battle mode, preparing for a custody case between him and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Willow Tait Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen).
Michael’s marriage imploded when Michael discovered Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) and Willow on his nanny cam in Scout Quartermaine’s (Cosette Abinate) playroom having sex.
Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) accidentally played the recording at the Quartermaine Christmas party.
Now, Willow has the kids at Nina Reeves’s (Cynthia Watros), and she hired Martin Grey (Michael E Knight) to represent her daughter in the divorce case.
It’s a big mess, and to make matters worse for Michael, he still wants to save his marriage despite Willow spending all her time with Drew.
Michael also has another issue he’ll soon have to contend with. He had a one-night stand with Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattson), which resulted in an unplanned pregnancy.
Right now, Michael is unaware that Sasha is carrying his child, but he’ll soon find out. As for Chad Duell, we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors and hope to see Michael come back onto the canvas someday.
